Guess what? Email marketing still works. Actually, it’s very effective — if you use good content. Otherwise, you run the risk of being dinged as “spam.” Don’t we all hate spam??
To up your email open rates, populate your emails with content your tribe deems valuable. Reward your readers for clicking through by giving them helpful information, coupons, and special deals they can’t get elsewhere.
Email marketing is part art, part science. But mostly good content. The bottom line: If your emails go unopened, it’s probably because your readers don’t think they need your information. Or you’ve made them mad because you contact them too often — or not often enough for them to remember why they opted into your list in the first place.
Email marketing helps to build trust in your brand, build relationships with prospects, and turn your tribe into raging fans. Too, it gives you insights into how your information is being received. Because you can customize your emails to specific market segments, you can track responses and best learn how to engage them. Don’t make the mistake of sending info to the wrong segments. That will get your emails and email newsletters blocked, for sure. Your goal? Create content that your readers say, “Great stuff! I need to share this with Bob, Bill, and Sue!”
